West Carroll Detention Center
The West Carroll Detention Center (WCDC) is located off Interstate 20 in the Carroll Parish. The facility opened in 1997 and houses male and female medium security inmates with a rated capacity of 732 beds. The facility houses inmates in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Corrections and Harris County, Texas.
Jody McJimsey was named Regional Warden overseeing Emerald Correctional Management’s West Carroll Detention Center and River Bend Detention Center in March 2012. He has been Warden for the West Carroll Detention Center since 2011. Warden McJimsey was employed by Emerald Correctional Management at the Tensas Parish Detention Center in 2001 as a Captain receiving promotions to Chief of Security, Deputy Warden and Warden. He was also the tactical commander for the Tensas Parish Detention Center from 2001 thru 2004. Warden McJimsey brings more than 18 years of experience in the corrections industry. He began his career at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, Louisiana and later moved into private corrections. Warden McJimsey has completed specialized cources for Homeland Security Task Force training, tactical training and training in lethal and non-lethal weaponry. He is also a certified taser instructor.
Through the facility’s Offender Work Crew Program, inmates work in partnership with the Village of Epps to maintain town roads by mowing grass, picking up trash and debris and assisting the Village’s Maintenance Department as needed.
